Default PAL PSOne screen on NTSC PSOne

sponsored links

I have an NTSC imported PSOne and was wondering if I bought a PAL LCD screen, would it actually work on it what with them having different requirements for power supply. The PSOne needs a stepdown transformer, and since the screen takes the power from the PSOne, wouldn't it need a higher voltage, since us guys in Europe have a different power supply? If this orks, I assume it would be true for other consoles such as the GameCube and a GC screen? Thanks for your time

Might be easier to import an NTSC screen.

I was thinking about doing that, I've looked all over the net for sites with them on, but they either don't sell them, or only do PAL ones.

Seem to recall finding a few sites selling NTSC ones when someone else asked about a screen for a PSX.

It did occur to me though that if the screen probably only needs 12V DC or so. So that is probably what it gets from the console. In which case it wouldn't matter if the PS1 was running 240 or 110volts.

Although I don't have a console to look at or a screen for that matter so I could be well wrong.

Thanks for the help celtic, I think I'll buy a PAL one and see if it works. Worst that could happen is that it just wouldn't come on since the power is lower than it requires. I think........
