Phil, in previous post I mentioned that crosfade length is adjustable. If 4 frame setting is not enough to kill the gaps then go up to 5 or 6 frames. Burn the tests to an image or CDRW disc till you get satisfactory result then burn to the CDRs.

ow many tracks you trying to do, if not too many you can use something like sound forge, delete all the "silence" and re save.
Also if you sue a program like easy extractor / convertor, the convertor part has an option to delete the quite start and end, would that be enough.
Personaly I have always found nero express does what I need.

Thanks all of you... tried the various suggestions, converted to WAV, burnt back to CDA, set gap to zero, increased frames etc,etc.... no joy. Purchased Nero 6 full retail version yesterday (seems same prog as 5.592 to me, just more jazzy icons thats all) But this time I don`t get the "properties" option no more when I right click the mp3 track. The menu appears then go down to properties, but nothing happens. I have looked at the "Audio Editor" also on the menu (similar to soundforge Rob) but there is no gap showing at the end of the track, so there is nothing to delete
