Default vfw? (virtualdub problem)

sponsored links

i tried to encode an avi file in tmpenc but it gives me a message "file can not open or unsupported."

so i try to open it in virtualdub but it gives me this message :

Couldn't locate decompressor for format "IV41" (Indeo Video 4.1)

VirtualDub requires a Video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. Directshow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable.

what does that mean? and how can i encode the avi file to mpg so i can burn a vcd?

It means what it says; that you need to have a VFW indeo codec installed. Now that they have Indeo 5.2 (XP) or whatever they expect you to pay for it, but you should be able to find the older free version around.

Assuming that you can play it though, you should be able to convert with TMPGEnc using the installed directshow decoder.
