Default going out to buy a DVD Writer ...is it the A03?

sponsored links

I am going to buy a DVD Writer. Should I buy the A03 or wait until the end of the month when some one says Pioneer are bringing out a new one. I went to their site but no mention.

If I buy the A03 where is the cheapest place at the moment
Which Discs should I use for PS2
Which discs for films.
Best /cheapest place to buy discs.
Should I definitely change my H/D to NTFS on XP or can I keep my ME.
Once I have made 1 copy of a film or PS2 game can I then do a disc 2 dsic copy of the first one.

dvd writers are different in many ways to cd burners. You may be better off finding out all the answers to the questions you need to know before you get the writer itself.

As they are falling in price on a daily basis, you may end up learning about them while the writer is sitting in your bay depreciating in value.

I can answer 1 of your ?'s. Yes you should change my H/D to NTFS on XP or win 2000 cause if you don't you will end up doing what I did. I wasted a few blanks thinking oh yeah thats great the movie ripped at just the right size, no need to downsize. Then I relised the end of the movie was missing and found out that fat32 even in XP has a file size limit which is to small at around 4.3GB for most movies but smartripper didn't report any errors with the rip. I don't know if NTFS has any filesize limit but I've had no probs since converting and performance seems to have improved a little also.

OK, I can answer your questions, no probs. I was merely trying to offer advise that its not as straight forward as cd burning.

>>If I buy the A03 where is the cheapest place at the moment

I believe Nokia Needs does them for 280. I havent seen cheaper.

>> Which Discs should I use for PS2

Verbs / Apple work fine, but are expensive. Again, Nokia Needs offers a cheap alternative at 2.50 a go.

>> Which discs for films.

I havent had any problems with unbranded dvdrs for films or anything other than PS2.

>> Best /cheapest place to buy discs.

Nokia Needs. SVP Communications. Bigpockets.co.uk

>> Should I definitely change my H/D to NTFS on XP or can I keep my ME.

Yes, it is most likely you will need to create files over 4Gb.

>> Once I have made 1 copy of a film or PS2 game can I then do a disc 2 disc copy of the first one.

Yes.
