Default NEC ND-2500A records 8x DVD-R Riteks at 4x. Why?

sponsored links

I have RitekG05 8x DVD-R but NEC 2500 can only write on it up to 4x. Is there a fix for this? Ritek is supposedly the best bulk DVD-R. I have some 8x DVD-R Verbatims that writes at 8x, so my NEC 2500 is working well. I have firmware v. 1.07.

The NEC 1.07 firmware does not support 8x for these disks. But there is a modified version that does - I'm using it - and will also support dual layer as the 2510a is basically a 2500a with different firmware.

The link for the firmware is:-

********herrie.rpc1.org/downloads/2k5107v2b5dld.rar

This must be run from DOS.

I suggest you go to

********forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?category=4&manufactor=23

and follow the links for 2500 dual layer bitsetting beta 5 and read a bit first.
A word of warning - this firmware will write Ritek G04s at 8x. My experience of this is not good so if you've got any of these stick to 4x.

There is an exe file around that will upgrade directly from windows but I can't find the link for it. If you want this I can email it to you. Contact me at curtistj@tiscali.co.uk if you want.

Tim
