Default solved

Just in case you do come back to this forum with your data loss query, here is my story.

I had a very expensive tape system which backed up (supposedly) every night. It verified this (yes I know, contradiction in terms) and landed me in a serious fix when I had a recovery request. I wont go in to the horrible details but suffice I did not get the required data back and had to eat humble pie.

Since then I went with online backup. This is not just automated and fully reported but verifiable in an instant at any time without recourse to your supplier. I did a fair bit of homework on this and narrowed it down to bytestore or backupanytime.

Bote are excellent offerings. I use backupanytime and cant recommend them highly enough. You can visit them on

They offer a free trial.
