Question S.M.A.R.T. enabled or disabled? [Home made years ago; AMD K6-500; winME]

Just as the title, should it be, or shouldn't it be enabled. BTW mine isn't.

S.M.A.R.T is designed to warn you of HD problems ahead of time so that you still have enough time for backup. On mobo's that support S.M.A.R.T, this feature should be enabled in the BIOS.

Well, it really depends. Normally, you should disable it because it will slow down your system's performance if it's enabled. If you feel you need the added security, turn it on.

First thing I always do personaly is disable it in the BIOS. Just slows your system down.
