Cool SEGA to make new Dreamcast Game

sponsored links

This news may be a bit old to some of you, but most of you would have missed it...

Despite the steady flow of Dreamcast software (especially from Playmore/SNK, NEC Interchannel, Takuyo, Kid and more), Sega has done or said little to acknowledge the surprisingly good sales of new Dreamcast software. The DC has become mostly a 'machina non grata' of sorts. PSO servers are finally going down, the often delayed Monster Desyoo (a Sega developed DC title) has appeared and reappeared on Sega's DC release list in Japan, and so on. However, out of the blue, Sega and SonicTeam will be releasing PuyoPuyo Fever for the XBox, GameCube, PS2, and Dreamcast! The action/ puzzle game is due to for a simultaneous release on all four consoles in Winter 2004, nearly three years after the Dreamcast's continuation. I am mystified as to why or how this came about for several reasons: 1. Though almost every incarnation of PuyoPuyo has appeared on a Sega console going back to the Mega Drive and GameGear days, it is (or at least, was) not a Sega property. It was owned by Compile who are famous for many oustanding games such as the legendary shooter series Spriggan for the PC Engine/ Turbo Duo. 2. With Sonic Team having great success with its Sonic the Hedgehog, Phantasy Star Online, and Shining franchises on various platforms and with the promise of Billy Hatcher, it seems a little bizarre that they would concern themselves with the Dreamcast at this late date (not that I'm complaining!). For more information, head on over to Sega of Japan's page (in Japanese). Here's the link:

Is there any chance that maybe Sega will return to its Console ways in the upcoming years?
