Default DVDr booting question

sponsored links

Ok this is really making me now. I have JUST one question. Has ANYBODY actually got a DVDr backup game to work by using the mod chip and the action replay2 v2 or the gameshark v2? ANYONE? I have tried all these methods and none off them work. ANYONE else having the same problem?

Neo 2/2.2 with AR 1.7 or 1.9

This requires an original PS2 DVD and AR v1.7 or v1.9.
1) Turn on PS2 with AR 1.7/1.9 (holding down the ON/RESET).
2) Select Start Game (Still Holding ON/Reset).
3) Press EJECT (while still holding the ON/RESET button) and swap AR with
PS2 ORIGINAL DVD.
4) Press EJECT to close (Wait 10 seconds).
5) Then select WITHOUT CODES. Wait until disc stops.
6) Now let go of reset and the tray comes out, swap PS2 ORIGINAL DVD for a
back-up DVD-R and press X just as the tray starts to go back in (IMPORTANT)!

FOR THIS METHOD WHEN I LET GO OF THE RESET BUTTON THE TRAY DOESNT EJECT.

Neo 2/2.2 with AR 2.0

This requires an original PS2 DVD and AR v2.
1) Load AR2 V2 keeping Reset button pressed
2) Select Action Replay Codes
3) Highlight Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX2 Code
4) Press START
5) Press EJECT and insert Original DVD
6) Wait 10 Seconds
7) Now press 'X' on 'With Codes' and 'X' once again
8) Error-Message appears: 'Too many Codes'
9) Original DVD stops spinning
10) Perform EA Trick (Release Reset), insert DVDR Backup
11) Press 'X' to confirm Error-Message
12) Now press Circle twice to enter Main Menu again
13) START GAME, without Codes, press 'X'
14) Codes are getting actualised
15) DVDR boots

FOR THIS ONE NO GOD DAME ERROR MESSAGE COMES UP.

AND FOR THESE ONES I DONT EVER WANNA GO THERE.

Neo 4

This requires an original PS2 DVD.
1) Turn on the PS2 with no disk inserted and press X to get to browser
screen
2) Insert ORIGINAL DVD, close drawer with EJECT (while still holding EJECT)
3) Wait until GOLD DISK appears on screen & release EJECT
4) Swap ORIGINAL DVD with DVDR - drawer will auto close after 5 seconds
5) Press X to start game

Without a Chip, with AR 1.7 or 1.9

This requires an original PS2 DVD and AR v1.7 or v1.9.
1) Load up Action Replay CD.
2) In the main menu, select 'Start Game'
3) Hit Eject and insert a "real" DVD game that is larger than the DVDr you
are going to play. Close the CDROM.
4) Now select 'With Codes' if you are going to be using cheats, or 'Without'
if you are not.
5) Now you should be a the 'Please Insert Game Disc' screen. Now perform the
normal knife/tool swap.
6) Take out the DVD game and put in your game backup DVDr. 7) Use tool swap
again to pull pin back to left.
8) Press X

Without a Chip, with AR 2.0

This requires an original PS2 DVD and AR v2.
1) Load AR2 V2
2) Select Action Replay Codes
3) Highlight Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX2 Code
4) Press START
5) Press EJECT and insert Original DVD
6) Wait 10 Seconds
7) Now press 'X' on 'With Codes' and 'X' once again
8) Error-Message appears: 'Too many Codes'
9) Original DVD stops spinning
10) Now perform swap trick & insert DVDR Backup
11) Press 'X' to confirm Error-Message
12) Now press Circle twice to enter Main Menu again
13) START GAME, without Codes, press 'X'
14) Codes are getting actualised
15) DVDR boots

try the double swap method using the knife technique. I have never had a problem with that method. all games work great.

also you need to say what version of the GS2 you are using

I use the second method on your list and it works fine 9 times out of 10. I find it's all about the timing of what I'm doing.

I hate to say it but if none of these methods are working then maybe you've got a bad modchip or a bad install...other than that don't know what else to suggest.

Best of luck.
