Default USB 2.0 PCMCIA Card, Problems with install

sponsored links
Hey guys, I'm having a serious problem. I have recently purchased a sunix usb 2.0 pcmcia card for my laptop to connect my usb tdk 40x burner. This is what i've already tried:

1. I inserted the card, let windows automatically detect the card and install the drivers.

2. I went to windows update and installed this update: Microsoft Usb Driver Version 5.1.2600.0. This is supposed to allow usb 2.0 support.

3. I installed the driver that came with the card.

4. I've looked everywhere online for other drivers

What ends up happening is that windows says the device is installed correctly, but when I plug in the burner, it says: "Hi-speed device plugged into a non hi-speed hub" This limits the burn speed to 4x (yuk)

Has anyone experienced this, and can help me out? I've been working on this for hours! Thanks.

My laptop: COMPAQ PRESARIO 2720US Click here for the specifications. Thanks again.
