Well I can imagine you guys know a lot more on dvd movies...I mainly got it for doing PS2 & Xbox. Don't movies take like days to copy since most have to be decompressed/compressed, ripped, stuffed, washed, waxed and then finally burned? lol j/k but i heard there is more to it than just pushing "Copy Disc".

Anyway, an update on my thoughts on this burner: I love it! The newest Nero will recognize it fully(+ and -) and burn very stable although it is not officially supported. I burned about 15 Princo 1x dvd-r's and a few cd-r's on Memorex 24x's. Only 1 dvd-r coaster but I think my OS is starting to fall apart...probably got a quiet virus somewhere.
All burns were PS2 games...haven't tried XBox as of yet.

I haven't tried any rw's or + media.

Now where's the cheap 4x media??

RecordNow Max 4.5 upgrade is available.
Works great with the DRU-500A

Can't wait for 4X DVD-R media to hit the shelves.
Didn't buy the drive to burn at 1 or even 2X

I put mine in yesterday, it went really easy although I did have to put it in the bottom second bay of my 4550 so the top would open.

Loaded all the software (Mine has a manf date of Oct 8th 2002). It all works. Used the dvd smart ripper & the dvd+rw disk & wrote a perfect working copy that plays fine in my apex 1500.

A note on the software, it includes a very special
Sonic Mydvd which can import the SR files, *.m2v & I didn't try the a3c file (Not sure what to do with it yet)..... Remember"Highlight the video and check demux to an extra file. Highlight the audio and
check demux to extra file. Remember to do it both times or it will not work
properly. Select a target on your HD somewhere."

I don't know why someone doesn't like the software, I think its pretty neat. Be sure to read that big blue paper, it has web links on it to update your software as needed. Also with XP, install a ASPI layer (Force Aspi).
