sponsored links

My friend has comcast cable internet and i go over his house to download things. Anyway when we download from kazai or soemthing like that his cable isp is super fast and we can download full games or movies in like 30 minutes. When we try to download on aol it takes much much longer, I dont understand that. When i tryed to download a game on aol that had 56 files it said it takes 20 minutes per file with cable isp. Thats like 18 hours with cable internet and it shoulnt take that long with a fast isp, whats going on??????

With P2P programs like kaZaa, speed is determined by the bandwidth of the user at the other end as well as your own so maybe that's it. If only one or two people have the file you're trying to download and they have slow connections or most of their bandwidth is already in use, then it's bound to be slow. Is it the same with downloads from http and FTP sources?

Are you using AOL Broadband or just standard AOL dialup?

Because it sounds like your friend has the comcast High-Speed Internet service 512k or faster, and you have the AOL standard dialup service 56k.

Now that you mention it, it does sound that way.

whobutme: Please clear it up for us. I was assuming you had the broadband service.

To be honest, all AOL is crap. Everyone i know who had it moved off it due to slow speeds.
