Default broadband question

sponsored links

were gettin broadband in the area soon, one quick question I have is do i still need to get my phone line checked for compatability, like i know some of the isp's offer this as part of their sighning up package, or do i not really need to worry about this?? Basicly im thinkin of buying my own kit, setting up myself etc.

Any advice is appriciated

dont think so mate. When I got broadband, all that happened was that the company I went with (freedom2surf.net) checked my line to see if it was ok, (they didnt have to come to my house) then then gave me a date for when I would be switched on. I got myself a microfilter for each phone socket in the house. Ordered my own ethernet modem (much better than a USB modem) and that was basically it. I followed the instructions in the modem manual and input the details that my ISP gave me. Fairly simple really.

I since then have plugged my ethernet modem into a wireless router, and I can access the internet from anywhere in my house without having to have the main computer on, as would be the case if i was to have used a USB modem. Hope this helps. (ebuyer do cheap microfilters and modems)
