Question cpu for k7s5a mother board

whats the best cpu for the k7s5a motherboard?currently using amd athlon thunderbird 1300mhz.just wanting to know if it will take any larger?

Have a look in the motherboard instruction book to see what speed it can take.

Have a look at the CPU Socket. If there is an XP sticker on there, it will take the XP Processors.

The best value one at the moment I think is the XP1800

As CHR15 said really.

But no xp stickers mean you will only be able to go upto a max of a 1.4 Athlon. There is no provision even for a BIOS update to make your board take the "XP" chips either as the newer XP boards were revised quite substantialy.

i think that the k7s5a will take all amd cpu's (with a bios update)

Sadly they do not i'm afraid. Check out [url]********[/url] for any more info on this. Any of the earlier mobos without the xp stickers next to the chipslot will not take anything higher than a 1.4 Thunderbird Athlon.
