Unhappy PS2 won't power up

sponsored links

I just installed a Magic 2 into my v4 PS2. I followed all the instructions and the install seemed to go smoothly, but when I put the PS2 back together and turned on the power, the PS2 didn't even come on. Anyone know of any possible causes and solutions to this problem?

Do you have any lights on the power button when it's plugged in?

No, there's no lights on the power button; it doesn't come on at all. I took it apart (but left the modchip and the solder connections alone) and put it back together again and it still didn't work. Is there anything specific that could be making the PS2 not power up at all? Is it definitely some kind of modchip/modchip installation issue? What is the best course of action?

Check where the power lead connects to the PS2 motherboard. Make sure around that area there are no scorched parts (ie, something shorted to power). Did you remember to connect all your cables?

When you took it apart were you easy on the ribbon cables? They are very fragile so perhaps you broke one of them.

Also, if you have a multimeter, check all the on board fuses for continuity. Also the fuse on the power supply...
