Whats Play AVI? Do you mean RGB/Uncompressed AVI. If so, it probably can, but no one uses RGB as about 10mins would take up a whole CD. AVI is Audio Video Interlude, and is compressed using a codec like Divx, Xvid, Indeo, MJPG, PIC, MPEG-4...

i guess the only way is to try to see if the uncompress avi file with work on hte ps2 media player, but i guess it wouldn't work becuz of the high bitrate it got, but who knows?

but the best things is if you are not sure if your avi will work or not work on the ps2 media player or if you don't want to waste another cd-r, then try out this method: ***********.cdrom-guide.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=224400

anyways, that method is only if your avi movies is playable on the PC first, if it's playable on your PC, then this method will 100% work for your ps2.....

I did everything what the guide told me here: no mod tutorial:

(cdgenPS2.exe is included in the archive)
this is what i did. drag the files to cdgen in this order: system.cnf, mplayer.elf, cdvd.irx. then adjust the LBA of system.cnf to 12231 (right click system.cnf, goto edit). then i added a "divx" folder and stuck avi files in it. then i created an image. i used the knife trick, and it worked.

the divx folder is not required. after adjusting the LBA (or after drag+dropping the files in order) you can add your avi file(s)

It boots up but just stays at a blackscreen??? IM Using Cog, GS 1.9, version 1 ps2.
