Mac Lumix GH2 AVCHD to AIC for iMovie/FCP-720p AVCHD Lite to iMovie and FCE
While most of the Panasonic Lumix cameras include the function to record videos in 720p AVCHD Lite format, Lumix DMC-GH2 is advertised with further video recording format: Full-HD Movie in AVCHD Format and 24P Cinema Mode with 24Mpbs. These features Lumix GH2 is getting closer to camcorder level.

For the video recording format, you will find AVCHD and QuickTime Motion JPEG with file extension like .mts, .mov. For the recording mode, you can get QuickTime Motion JPEG with 640x480, 320x240, 848x480, 1280x720, or AVCHD in 1920x1080 (24p, 60i or 50i), 1280x720 60p or 50p. The 60i and 60p are for NTSC, while 50i and 50p are for PAL.

While you face problem importing Lumix AVCHD and AVCHD Lite footage to iMovie 8, 9, 11 or FCE 4 for editing and creating your movie, you can use Aunsoft Video Converter for Mac as the best Lumix GH2 AVCHD to AIC converter. With the AVCHD to AIC converter, you can keep the highest video quality for editing. Since Apple Intermediate Codec is less compressed format, the output video size will be larger than the original file.

Follow the guide below and you will find it easy to edit videos from the full HD movie recording interchangeable lens system camera on Mac OS X.

Step 1. Upload Lumix AVCHD files to Aunsoft Video Converter for Mac.
Connect Panasonic GH2 to Apple iMac/MacBook Pro via USB 2.0 cable, run Aunsoft Video Converter for Mac as the best 2011 Lumix GH2 AVCHD to AIC for iMovie/FCP. Click the "Add" button to browse and import the .mts files from Lumix camera to Mac application.

Step 2. Choose AIC codec with 1920x1080 or 1280x720 video size.
Click the "Format" option, and move mouse cursor to QuickTime Movie Format > Apple InterMediate Codec(AIC) (*.mov) as output format. To get 1080 video, click the "Settings" button and choose 1920*1080 for FCE 4 for iMovie. To get 720p output video size, just choose 1280*720 from the drop-down.

Step 3. Convert Panasonic AVCHD to MOV with AIC for iMovie/FCE.
Click the convert button under the preview window, the Mac Lumix Video convert will start the Lumix to iMovie conversion with AVCHD to AIC in HD resolution.

Aunsoft Video Converter for Mac does not only convert 720p AVCHD Lite to AIC for iMovie and FCE, but also full HD movies like 1080i AVCHD to AIC. The Mac video editing will be easy after the conversion.

Tips:
For 720p AVCHD lite videos the above steps will be enough. However, for the full HD 1080i movie from Lumix GH2, you need to select the clip and click the "Editor" button. Go to the Effect tab and make sure the checkbox for deinterlacing is ticked.
