Default 16:9 picture mode on puter screws up?

ive recently downloaded the "ali g" movie but its in 16:9 picture mode
which my computer dont like it. itll play but the picture is messed up like the
picture apears in 3 different spots and is also cut , and theres white dots on the top of it the only thing it works in is virtualdub. is there a way of doing this without
rencoding? i know it plays cause i tested it at skool and works really well
the file is a .avi ive downoaded the new codec and windows media player
put it still screws up i know the vid was encoded using nandub
