Hmm, I just did some test on mine and TMPGEnc can open DivX 3 fine with either DivX 5 VFW or DivX 3 VFW codecs.

Hi m8

I'm a dunse, , what does that mean? - I should be able to open the files?

I have just retried to open the files, but it gave me the same error.

I have noticed all the files I can't open, I think they are all DVD Rips, if thats could effect this process.

Many Thanks for all your asstance so far, hopefully I can get this working, can you suggest anything-else?

Cheers m8

It doesn't matter where the movie is sourced from, it only matters what it is encoded with, although DVDRip release groups tend to encode with DivX3 or more recently XviD and not DivX4 or 5.

What I am saying is that if you have either DivX5 or DivX3 installed(the VFW codec not just the directshow playback codec) then TMPGEnc should be able to open your file.
