Default Is it possible for a mod chip to kill a PS2?

Is it possible for a no solder mod chip and a solder mod chip to kill your PS2 over time? Let says you just installed a no solder mod chip and you have been playing it for a few months. All of a sudden your PS2 stops work because of the mod chip. Is that possible?

yes...i've heard of it happening before, the no solder mods can apparently blow some fuse on the main board sorry i don't know which one but you can use a ohm meter to tell which
