Smile Formatting PC, Can I use another pcs backup and restore cds ?

My mum has killed her HD and when she boots up her pc its asking her to insert her recovery cd etc, Trouble is the daft old bat has gone and lost her backup & recovery disks. Would I be able to use my PCs 2 backup and recovery disks to format her HD and ofcourse install my operating system and software onto her HD ?...If it helps her PC is an Advent, mine is an Acer.

just order another cd from the manufacturer.

the recovery cd is for that computer along with the program and drivers suited for that computer so you'll probably have alot of crap and problems with it if you can even get it to work on the other pc. just do a freakin full format and reinstall windows that is, if you have one.

[URL=***********.bootdisk.com/]boot disk dot com

you could just slip the windows disc in the PC and change the setting in the BIOS so the Pc boots from the CD drive

BTW the command to format at the A: prompt is format c:
