It could well do with being tested as the drive could be faulty, this is what is needed to be done first, as it will prove either that the drive has died or it is to do with XP drivers or the motherboard.

Check the data cable by replacement.

And if you know the make/model of your motherboard, try installing the latest drivers for it, i.e. the IDE drivers and system drivers etc.

You could also try changing the IDE port that its connected to.

Normally I wouldn't go through registration just to make a comment, but you're answer to forcing XP to reinstall necessary files to recognize rom drives was brilliant. I was losing hope until I came across this thread.

This was in regards to the steps to delete registry entries upper filter and lower filter.

Default XP does not see CD/DVD ROM drives

Dear developer. Sorry for my English. I have a problem: the program does not determine my DVD-ROM LG GH20NS10, writes "No Compatible drives"
I really like the program and I would like to use it, but this error prevents me. Thank you for your reply. Sincerely, Vitaliy.
