Default Wireless network

sponsored links
I am new to wireless networks. I have installed a broadband modem and router (netgear DG834G) and have today got a laptop with WiFi.

The laptop connected to the internet with ease, i didnt have to do anything. When i looked into it later i realised that my connection wasnt secure (this has been the case for months) and anyone with Wifi could use my connection. I have sorted this out.

Now i want to if possible set up a network where i can access files from the CPU which is connected to the router, via my laptop. My goal is to be able to turn the CPU on upsatirs and to be able to access music, and files as well as still having the internet connection.

Is this possible and if so how?
