Default Hard drive upgrade???

sponsored links

I'm sure someone will have a pop at me for asking this, so here goes.

I've read through a lot of posts about changing the xbox hard drive for a 120 gig. I've also got slayers 2.1 auto installer. I've also chipped my box with a cheapmod (blue X on boot up).

I've no software on my chip so do i:

1. Remove my hard drive
2. Insert brand new hard drive
3. Insert slayers disk 2.1 and away it goes.

Would i need to put slayers disk in before i remove the original hard drive so it's in there before i reboot.

And finally. If for some reason at a later date i wanted to put back in the original hard drive, is it a problem?

Thanks for your help

Yep and nope.

Your sequence as you have written it is fine and there is no problem putting the original back in at a later date. You don't need the disk in before you power down, but if your too slow putting it in afterwards, the box will try to boot, find a missing hard drive and error. So put it in first if you want, but if you get it in quick enough, you'll be fine.

Thanks Memphis.

I think what i'm more worried about is whether or not the disk i make of slayers will work. Is there any way of testing/checking the disk beforehand because i downloaded it and as you know, you can download stuff that won't work.

Thanks again

Yeah, bung it in now. It'll just load up a menu. You can't do anything to the Xbox so long as you don't select any of the options. Will just give you an idea of if the disk works or not.
