If you have a 500MHz CPU or faster with a min of 128MB RAM and at least 20GB HD then you should be OK. (Forget about the min system requirements that Microsoft said. ) If your system is slower than 500MHz (but should be faster than 300MHz), you'll need more RAM, say, at least 256MB.

i think windows xp is better, but me is very stable i have also found, if your going to put xp on your machine you must have:

minimum 300mhz processor (microsoft say 266 i think)
128mb ram (microsoft say 64mb)
a biggish hard drive

so whatever you choose good luck!!!!

Well, just let you know that XP Pro runs pretty good on my P4 2.0GHz system, smoothly on my P3 1GHz Laptop and both have 512MB RAM, a little sluggish on my Celery 500MHz with 256MB RAM. I have not tried on slower systems since I sold all of them long time ago .

Running XP on a 266 with 64MB RAM?

XP is superb considering it's a microsoft product - should you have any problems with programs which ran on <98, then run the compatability wizard and off you go
