can any one recommend a good user-friendly program to protect my pc on the internet against hackers and whatever

Sygate or zonealarm are fairly popular, the are others like tiney firewall, outpost and kerio lotsa options, some are easier then others to set up and some people have problems with the newer version of Zonealarm in particular. I personally use Zone alarm Pro 3 and must be lucky cause I have never had an issue with it
