I've got my eye set on this for 569 from a local store,

Is this a good laptop?

I'm looking to use it for internet surfing, playing older games, networking (running Windows Media Centre on it).

I already have a PC with a 3.6ghz processor and 400gb hdd and nvidea G-force graphics card 512ddram, so i already have the specs to do new games...etc

Would it be better to use a pc for Windows XP Media Edition, rather than a laptop?

Regards

I don't like Windows Media Center as it can be buggy.

It's basically XP with a different GUI (graphical user interface) anyway.Just stick with XP.

As far as the laptop is concerned, it seems OK, but one thing confuses me.

Under Features, it lists the CPU as "AMD Mobile Athlon64 3000+ 2.0 GHz Processor", which is good.

Yet under CPU Family it's an AMD Sempron, which is a budget Socket 754 chip?

Double check what the exact chip is you are getting.

I'd also check the dead pixel warranty on the screen.

If you want some other recommendations, although I'm not sure they are available in your area or price range, take a look at the following,

Pioneer DreamBook Slim 805

HP Compaq nx6120

Optima Centoris W259-3165

Targa XTender A510.

Thanks for the advice Insomniac, im looking into the direction of a HP Compaq nx6120 now. Sounds pretty handy.

Was wanting Media Centre Edition for the connectivity between the pc and the xbox 360 so i could stream videos.
