Question Advice on setting up a home network for 2 pc's with wireless router & broadband....!

sponsored links

I am trying to set up a home network. I have NTL broadband which connects to a Buffalo G54 wifi router by ethernet. My desktop then connects to the router by ethernet, and my laptop by .11g.

I've got both pc's connected to the internet, and I can access shared files on either PC by giving them IP addresses and allowing each other access in Zone Alarm Pro.

However, each pc has its own list of users, and I'd like to be able to have one user set across both PC's, so all favourites and settings are used regardless of which PC is used. How do I do this in XP Pro? When I go into the network/user settings each PC only gives me access to that PC and its users. When I use the Network Setup Wizard which option should I use? Should I be using the Desktop as a server/central point, but then both having access to the internet via the router?

The main reason for this is because I'd like to be able to synchronise My Documents on both PC's, (presumably using Briefcase?) so that if I add or amend documents on one PC, when they're connected I can synchronise them to update files on the other PC and vice versa.

Thanks....

Is it not possible to set up network information and have it copied over to each pc on the network?
