My sister had joined her friend’s birthday party and recorded all happy things happened with Canon 7D and wanted to edit the recordings before burn them to DVD. After downloaded the recordings (which are H.264 mov format) from Canon 7D to Mac hard disk, and imported them to FCP for editing, FCP refused, After trans-coding a number of 7d mov files to prores, we found the files getting MUCH darker pictures in FCP(6). It has been suggested to us that this was addressed in FCP 7, however it is not really practical for us to upgrade.
After googled on online, we find a tool named Aunsoft Video Converter for Mac, which support to transcode/Import/Convert Canon 7D MOV to ProRes and have a function to adjust the dark pictures with bright color, I tried and finally transcode Canon 7D MOV recordings successfully. The effect function also helps a lot in color correction as it said.
Following I will show you how to convert/transcode Canon 7D MOV to ProRes for FCP 6 and Adjust the Dark Pictures.
Preparation: For the preparation of this conversion, connect Canon 7D camera to iMac or Macbook and transfer MOV video files into hard drive.
Step 1: Load Canon DSLR 7D MOV video files into this program.
Specify the right video files and drag MOV video file into this software and another way to import video files is clicking “Add” button.
Hints: Batch video files are allowed to be imported, therefore joining several video files into big one is supported by ticking the checkbox of “Merge into one file” under the preview window.
Step 2: Choose ProRes MOV as output video format, specify the destination folder.
Click “Format” icon and select “Apple ProRes 422 (*.mov)” for “Final Cut Pro” section as the exported video format. What’s more, you are free to choose the folder where you want to put converted MOV file by clicking the “Output” icon.

Step3: Adjust the Dark Pictures with Bright Color.
If you don’t want the output videos look darker than original file, you can click “Editor” and find “Effect” Tab, and then adjust the brightness to make your video look brighter.

Step 4: Start this Color Canon EOS 7D Videos to ProRes for Final Cut Pro 6 .
Click the button “Convert”, this conversion will begin immediately. And after a few minutes, Canon EOS 7D MOV files are ready for you to play and edit on Final Cut Pro 6.
Hope this Mac Canon EOS 7D MOV to ProRes MOV Converter becomes your ideal assistant in your digital life.
