MTS format is a high-definition video recording format used by many HD camcorders. These camcorders use MPEG-4 compression to store HD video data on SD cards or hard drives. The MTS video is one part of the AVCHD videos which support shoot HD recordings in 1080p definition.

For most of people, it is not enough to shoot video recordings via HD camcorders. Editing AVCHD/MTS footages on Final Cut Pro, Final Cut Pro X etc. editing tools seems to be more necessary. But how much do you know about the MTS footages? According to the tests, AVCHD videos like MTS videos are not compatible with Mac, that is to say it becomes not very smooth when playing or editing AVCHD/MTS videos on Mac though most Mac Apps support MTS videos for playing or editing.

With the file structure of BDMV and HD video codec like MPEG-4, the Mac media players and video editing tools seem to be difficult in supporting MTS videos. Decoding and playing MTS footages needs excellent and perfect video decoding capacity which most Mac Apps don't have. So, how can you deal with it to edit MTS videos on Final Cut Pro? Take Panasonic TM900 for an example, you must be disappointed when it costs a long time to import TM900 MTS recordings to Final Cut Pro for editing.

Would you change your mind and do the video editing on Windows? Perhaps you can find a compatible video editing tool on Windows because the number of Apps on Windows is much more than it on Mac. But it is not a good idea, because you do not need to do that. Just convert Panasonic MTS to FCP compatible videos and then you can edit MTS footages on FCP without any rendering.

Step 1: Load Panasonic TM900 MTS files from SD card.

Pavtube Video Converter for Mac is the best tool you need to help you convert Panasonic TM900 MTS to ProRes 422 for FCP editing. Click on "Format" bar when you'd like to specify an output format. MOV formats can be found in Final Cut Pro >> Apple ProRes 422 (*.mov).

Step 3: Click on "Convert" button to start Convert Panasonic TM900 AVCHD/MTS files to ProRes .mov with Pavtube Mac MTS to ProRes converter will generate MOV file with admirable video quality.

Step 4: Import converted videos to FCP for editing.
After conversion you can click the "Open" button to locate converted files and load the MOV files to FCP. Now you are able to edit MTS footage in FCP freely. You may also convert MTS to M4V, AVI, MPEG, etc for FCP editing.
