Thumbs down Sony DVD+-RW DW-Q58A no longer reading DVDs

sponsored links

Several months back my DW-Q58A Sony DVD drive stopped reading DVDs altogether. This was immediately after I had deleted some DVD-related program the likes of which I just can't recall.

The machine it runs on is a M1210 XPS Dell notebook. I couldn't find anything helpful on the Dell website.

Music and video CDs are detected and run fine, as well as being burnable. When I stick in a DVD though, whether just data or video, it won't even be recognized in the drive.

What might be wrong? Any help would be super appreciated.
