Default WinXP asking to insert boot disk in drive A???

sponsored links

This is what I was doing

I was adding a new 256 sdram module - when I started my p.c up all I got was black screen and a msg Insert boot disk in drive A''

I rebooted and went to settings and didn't recoginise my new ram so I removed it and put my old 128 back in ( I already had a 256 as well )
now it can see the ram 384 in total but its not booting from my Harddrive.

I took out the ide cable and refitted and the p.c booted fine, but a couple of hrs later it Dumped giving a blue screen ( First time ever in 3 years ). So I followed the on screen instructions and rebooted the p.c but its now giving me the black screen with Pls load boot disk in drive A'' msg.

Just wanna know if u guys think its the cable or the HDD...???
and if u think the ram incompatability has knackered it..??

Check your BIOS settings to ensure that you have it set to boot your Hard Drive.
