if im right, inside the pipe is filled with a liquid or gas for example ammonium which when heated will rise as a gas into the heatsink then cooled back into a liquid and the process continues. i just found this page [url=***********.cheresources.com/htpipes.shtml]here

Not sure but they are quieter I believe.

Do a search for "Shuttle SS40 review" or "Shuttle SS51 review" on Google for more info.

i have never used one of these heat pipes so i can only go by reviews. [url=***********.ocprices.com/index.php?action=reviews&rev_id=93&page=4]here is a review of the heatpipe in your pic and it seems to do well, you will still need a fan to cool down the heat pipe
