Default Do I need a dvd driver software

sponsored links

I have a PC with a DVD driver. It was preinstalled with Windows Me. I upgraded it to windows 2000. Now I found I cannot play any DVD movies. I use powerDvd and error message says that I need to put dvd in. It seems not recongnize the DVD.

Do I need to install a dvd rom driver software? The dvd is the SAMSUNG SD-612. Now the driver is strandard windows 2000 cd-rom driver. If I need the driver, where can I find it? I searched Samsung web site, it did not list this kind of DVD.

By the way, this DVD driver works fine with any CD.

Thanks!

...Jim

You don't need a driver for the DVD-Rom drive, as the generic Windows driver is already there.

You could try downloading and installing te new ASPI Driver for Windows 2000 from Adaptec :
***********.adaptec.com/worldwide/support/drivers_by_product.html?sess=no&cat=/Product/ASPI-4.70

This may well resolve your problem.

I had a similar problem mate.
What version of PowerDVD were you using on Windows ME?
When I went to Windows 2000 / XP I could only get the latest version 'PowerDVD XP' to play / recognise my discs.

Hope this helps,
Fluke
