Question apple no-swap chip ?s

sponsored links

I'm thinking about getting a new ps2 and get it chipped. I went to Lik Sang and it says they use the apple chip for the premodded US consoles. I hear they have a good reputation (lik sang), but I don't know much of anything about the apple chip. Is it reliable? Does it boot all forms of discs (dvds and cds, original and backup, psx and ps2, and dvd9)? 300 USD + s&h seems like it'd be the easiest and cheapest way to go if it works perfectly. Thanks in advance for your info/advice.

Yes, the apple is VERY reliable, I've done about 30 now and am very happy with it. It direct boots everything, you do need to hold down reset for a couple of seconds when booting DVD movies (some DVD games) and PSX games. Otherwise, it's a great chip. As a side note, lik-sang does have the systems for only $299, but check out their shipping... ($60-$110). In comparison, my premod systems are only $1, and shipping is $339.

I just received a pre-mod (apple) from Lik-Sang on 9/19 (ordered on (9/12) and shipped to NH, USA. $365 total.

Plays everything, have to press and hold reset to play PS1 and DVD movies (no big deal).

I think from my short experience and the web comments I've seen the apple mod is a very good one, and I think the Lik-Sang deal is a real good one (although I've read that if you live in the UK you have to pay taxes or a fine or something.

The apple chip is good. I have tested 52 games and all ok.

My PS2 is modified by apple chip myself and it is a 39001 PS2.

Thanks for the info. You guys may want to post that on the testimonials sticky thread because there's no info on there about the apple chip.
