When reformatting win98 hard drive, we are getting an error "invalid media type reading drive c:" This happened after we did f disk and created a new primary dos partition. Also, no FAT32 system was created. Any help?

In fdisk what does your primary partition says, Does it say "unknown" ? somewhere, I wouls delete all partitions, remake a primary and format, then go back in fdisk make an ext partition, then reboot, load 98. Do not enable large disk support.

I've tried remaking partitions both ways (enabling large disk support and not enabling it) but it dosen't seem to make a difference. In both cases the system is "unknown" so when I restart I can't format the c: drive because it says an "invalid media type reading drive c:". Do you have any other suggestions as to what I could try?
Thanks for your help

Try using the win98 boot disk, and select cdrom support. When it get to dos prompt typr in format c: /s Hopefully that will work.
