Default no mods boot disc does it work

hi to all looking in ive been offerd a boot disc wich is suppose to allow you to play backups on the x-box with out the chips is this right ?if so how does it work?

I'd doubt it. Most (if not all) of the "boot CDs" for XBox are fakes. Even now, I have yet to personally come across a legitimate, working boot CD for the PS2 and it is a much older system relatively (meaning there's been more time to crack the system and make a working disc).

As I understand it, the ONLY way to boot Xbox back-ups is with a modchip and those are supposed to self-boot, so there's no need for a boot disc or swap disc. If whomever you're getting it from will allow it, I'd suggest testing it out first, to see it actually boot a game. If it turns out such a thing has been made and works, I wouldn't mind getting my hands on a copy of it.

No, the Swap Magic CD's are used in conjunction with some of the cheeper, less featured chips. So you still need a chip to use them. (It's a bit more technical than that, if you want to find out, just look in the PS2 section.)
