Default Pioneer 104 and Region 1 Films

sponsored links

I was told a few months ago that I could rip Region 1 dvds in my Pioneer 104 drive if I just selected File mode in SmartRipper but I just tried it to do this and it only got off the ifo and similar files but as soon as it got to the vob files it slowed right down and started to give errors.

When I was first told this I said that the drive would have to be region free but they said it didnt so who is right, is there a program that will let me rip a region 1 dvd so I can compress it using DVD2one or do I need a region free drive and if so, is there anyway I can make my writer region free which will not mess up the dvd writer part.

To rip R1 DVD's you would need a region free drive either that or play it with some DVD player soft first which means changing regions and you can only do that 5 times before the drive locks.

You could just flash your drive with a region free firmware or just use a region free DVDRom for ripping.

Thank you, that is exactly what I thought but kept being told otherwise, I knew you needed to either change the region on the drive to the same as the dvd or make the drive region free because I know all Pioneer drives are locked where as some others only reply on the software to tell them the region and you can change that.

I dont really want to mess with the firmware on my dvd writer, but I do have a Pioneer dvd rom drive which has maxed out the 5 changes, any idea where I can get region free firmware for dvd rom drives.
