Default can this Samsung CD-Rom drive be used?

I recently got an xbox v1.2. I've read how the Xbox v1.3 has the better Samsung CD-Rom Drive. My computer has a Samsung CD-RW drive. Can I install this into my Xbox v1.2? I know it's a CD-RW drive, but was hoping it could be used, then I could just put my older Yamaha CD-RW back into the computer. Just wondering. Thanks

You can use it for CD-RW's and CD-R's, but obviously you won't be able to read anything DVD and you certainly won't be able to read originals.

(And just to note, the Xbox uses a DVD drive, not CD)

Yeah, but of course, you can keep the xbox an open-box and switch between the drives. That is, if you use a lot of cd-r and cd-rw media. IF not...
