Default Duo2 GT chip LED-issues

sponsored links

So I read a few reviews and this Duo2GT chip seemed to get decent marks. I went ahead and ordered one.

Installed it today. This LED - is it supposed to show anything if the chip is working? Of course it is, but it's not lighting up. I can play originals fine though, so there seems to be no problem THERE, but can the chip still not work, even if i'm able to play originals? That is to say - can I have made a soldering mistake even though I'm able to play originals?

Shouldn't the whole thing just ... not work?

Now, thing is, i'm pretty certain the soldering is OK. Not 100% sure, but pretty sure, that's why I'm wondering if there's some sort of "enabling" mechanism for the chip that I haven't been told of yet.

I've tried playing a burned PSX-game and followed the "booting" instructions from the manufacturers site, but I get a loading error (insert ps or ps2 disc yadayada). Now, here comes a main point - _should_ the LED be turning on when I try to enable psx-boot mode? Because if it's not suppoed to go on until the game is loaded then it can be a problem with the laser (it's a V3 - i have a v12 too, but i'm thinking i'll go with a more expensive chip for that one, but anyway...) OR is the chip just basically not functioning?

Eh, to sum up:
1. Should the LED go on immediatly after i try to enable a special mode, e.g. psx-mode?
2. Is there a "enabling" procedure, (there's a disable procedure - sure...).

..sorry about the messy post.

Thumbs down Problems with Duo2 GT as well

Hi, you may just need to switch the led wires they will only work one way...... But that doesnt seem to matter because i've bought 2 of them and neither of seems to work. They do.... something, the light activity says its working. It seems to begin to load but then stops abrubtly. the browser comes up for about a second and then it goes to the "Insert Playstation or PS2 format game. Ive redone the soldering with the finest wire i could buy, so i can see that all the connections are made right. Quite frankly I'm p***ed the chips are only 29.99$ US but after buying 2 +tax/shipping im out nearly $80. Team Omega needs to get there S&^t together. and my origiinal GT3 that came with the system is what I have been using to test, as well as GTASA. The original still works but I have to disable the ModChip in order for it to work or else i get the ""Insert Playstation or PS2 format Disc"". I have tryed memorex, verbatim, maxell, opticon, + & -. if somebody could help me it would be greatly appreciated.
