Default Speaker Problems

sponsored links

I know this is a little off topic, but I just bought the Gaming Series DSS-900 5.1 Surround Sound System for my PS2. I bought an optical cable to plug it into my PS2. The noise is like what you would hear out of a blown speaker or something in the sub and the 2 front speakers, but when I hook it up to my vcr through a Y cable, the fronts sound fine, and the white noise test sounds fine. Is it the optical cable?

There is no good noise coming out from the PS2 through the optical, just like a bad thud whining noise. The red optical lights are on and the optical is turned on, any other thoughts?

The front speakers work through the vcr, still have that static thud noise coming through the fronts when the optical cable is hooked up to the decoder and the audio cables from the PS2 hooked up to the tv, any thoughts?

I am using Philips Magnavox. This is my second cable, I took back the first one thinking the same thing. Do you have to use the extensions to get into the PS2 optical port and the speaker ports usually?
