I am having the same issue with my PS2 version 30001.

Doesnt matter what type of disc I insert into the tray, the laser comes on and trys to read the disc, and the motor moves the disc for a split second (like 1/8th of a turn, barely budges the disc) and then stops spinning.

I have tried cleaning the laser, didnt work.
I have tried adjusting the laser height with the white cog wheel, that didnt work...
I have tried replacing the laser assembly, that didnt work...

What else can I do?

All information is greatly apreciate. TIA!

If you have a mod inside, remove it and see if it solves the problem. If not, check to see if your BA or La chip is still good. Also, what are the readings of the DVD pot and Cd pot on your laser? Maybee you need to lower the resistgance a little bit.

Thanks for your reply ChicagoModz, I really do apreciate it

I have tried to remove the mod (Neo4) and it didnt change anything...

How do I check to see if my BA or LA chip is bad or not?

And wouldnt I need an oscilloscope to check the voltage readings of my laser?

Sorry for all of the questions, but its better to be sure then sorry
