Default Dedicated IDE slot for DVD Writer?

sponsored links

I read somewhere that you must have a dedicated IDE port on the motherboard for your DVD writer, otherwise it will be unstable. Is this true?

Due to limitations of my case and motherboard, I plan to daisy chain my existing CD writer with my DVD writer. Does it matter which is master or slave?

Thanks for any input.

Load of rubbish.....where did you read that?!

It'll go with your cd writer no probs, though depending on the model you may need to set it to slave and disable UDMA.....

My A04 is happily sharing an IDE port, although it did insist on being set to master.
