Default Newbie Question

sponsored links
Ive just started trying to rip my own dvd's and ive been fine until i get to the part where i produce the .mpg

It occasionaly goes slightly jerky (nothing serious) and i wondered if there was any way of producing one which runs smoother...

Whats the average bitrate, fps, screen size etc... which should produce a good quality picture but also be smooth....? (this is for vcd and svcd)

Any help would be much appreciated....

Well, you didn't give many details on how you are encoding the MPG. If you are using TMPGEnc try setting the motion to high quality (click the settings button). VCD 2.0 is a standard, so there's no mucking about with the bitrate or other settings. SVCD is all over the board and is really dependent on both the source movie (not all movies encode the same) and you're personal tastes.

Im using TMPGEnc and ive already tried that...
Has it got anything to with the fact that when i rip dvd2avi it only goes at 20f.p.s. Is there a way of changing this setting or was it the original extracting with DVD Decrypter that did this???
