Default full dvd drive replacement

sponsored links

has anyone completely replaced thier xbox dvd drive with a pc dvd drive using the tutorials found on xbox-scene? i just replaced mine with a pioneer 500m and followed this tutorial:

i also used Superfro's tutorial, it is relative and more detailed:

everything is functioning except for playing dvd movies. the xbox eject button is working with the pc drive and backup games load super-fast. according to the tutorials dvd movies should play with the new drive. any feedback/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

BTW: i recommend not to pot tweak the xbox dvd drive laser(lens), it is risky and is not worth it in the long run. i tweaked my drive some time ago in order for it to read games better. it was working great until recently, and now it doesn't read anything. you're better off burning games on higher quality media or running them from the HD.

What are you talking about!??

With the exception of a couple very old 1x DVD drives almost all the DVD drives ever made can read a DVD9 disc. The modern 16x Pioneer DVD drive can most definately read DVD9 media. Whatever Tmac's problem really is it has nothing to do with whether the media is DVD9 or not.

Wotcha Talkin' About Jaice, If this were the case then apart from flippers and single layer DVDs nobody would be able to watch a complete film on their PS2, XBox or PC which would be rather annoying.
