Hi quick question, i currently have a 1 port modem/router and want to setup to enable more than one computer to connect to the internet, am i right in saying i can just buy a 4 port switch, connect the modem/router to one of the ports on the switch and then say the other 2 computers to the switch? And is this usually a pritty stright forward process????

Yes, you are correct. A Switch would do the trick on enabling more computer to connect to your router.
