Transcode Canon 5D Mark III H.264 MOV to Apple ProRes for FCP 7 Editing under Mac OS

Canon EOS 5D Mark III just seems right for nearly all users – from the most serious professional needs down to the most-important family memories captures. With full-frame DSLR and high-resolution image capture, this camera is a lot of fun to work with. It records full HD 1080P videos in MOV format, but most users may find a problem when loading/transferring the recorded H.264 MOV footages to Final Cut Pro 7 for editing. Even the raw video could be successfully loaded to FCP 7, but the film will looks quite jumpy and the timeline becomes extremely sluggish for scan/scrub or when previews. This is because FCP 7 can’t supports loading MOV videos well. Don’t worry! Here I will share you with the easy way to import Canon EOS 5D mark iii MOV videos to FCP 7 for editing flawlessly.

If you would like to join all the selected files together, check the box of Merge into one. You could view the files in preview window, simply highlight the file and click play button.

3. Click “Format” bar to determine output format. The program offers particular output formats for FCP 7. Just click the format bar and choose “Final Cut Pro -> Apple ProRes 422 (*.mov)”.

4: You can click “Settings” if you’d like to customize advanced audio and video parameters like ideo Codec, aspect ratio, bit rate, frame rate, Audio codec, sampling rate, bit rate, channels. So there you have it. Pretty simple. After the workflow, you can go to the output folder to find the converted video files. Now you are free to log and transfer or import/edit Canon EOS 5D mark iii MOV videos to Prores for FCP 7 under Mac without problems.

Tips: If you are also a FCP X user, please make sure that you have installed the Apple ProRes Codec manually before you try to do the conversion since the FCP X asks users to install it by themselves.
