sponsored links

I have an .avi file(not divx) that is 696MB how can I burn it as a VCD or SVCD? I have Nero 6 but would certainly welcome any recomendations on how to do this with other programs as well. TIA (OS - XP)

There are a number of converters around, personally I use TMPGEnc to convert the avi to MPG. Using the standard VCD template you can fit 80 Minutes of movie on a 700meg CDR , with SVCD it's about 50 minutes on a 700meg disc.

If your movie is longer than that then after converting to MPG you can use the MPG tools in TMPGEnc to cut it into two (or more) parts.

try a kvcd template with tmpg enc , it will result in a smaller file , allowing you to fit a longer movie onto a 80 min cdr. (but with less quality of course).

Nero has a converter from avi to VCD built in (for SVCD you need to buy the converter from Nero site). Open Nero - new - Video CD. From 696 MB you can obtain about 500 MB in VCD format. Then Nero will burn this VCD on a CD.

I would not recommend Nero for encoding MPEG1 or MPEG2.

I use this way only for my comfort. I capture TV broadcasting and rip my DVDs and put my personal movie collection in avi format. From time to time my wife wants to see a movie in standalone DVD player. I use Nero (that way incriminated by celtic_druid) and make and burn 2 CD-RWs from 2 CDs with avi. I'm not a professional in this matter, but I found out my comfortable way. I suppose this mode isn't very qualitative. Please explain a little, celtic_druid.
