first try to remove the extra ram you just put it and see if it helps.
I've seen some ram that gets pretty hot that could possibly be defective.

Also - be sure to check out a program called cpuidle. Search it on google and do some reading on it. If all you do is simple word documents, internet browsing etc.. this program will cut down your CPU temp in half! (i know it sounds like a hoax, but it sends HALT instructions to the CPU on free resources...)

Also - download a program called motherboard monitor which would tell you your CPU temperture while in windows... Let us know what the tempertures are...

For what it's worth my laptop fan is always on. I think this is pretty normal for modern laptops with fast processors.

IMHO I would think that it would be normal for the fan to come on for 50 to 75% of the time. Unfortunately most laptop motherboards don't allow for temperature monitoring. Once the temperature exceeds a certain temperature, the censor will trip and there's nothing you can do short of having it replaced. It will just refuse to boot. If it's not under warranty it might be wiser and/or cheaper to just replace the whole motherboard.
