Default ATI vs nVdia?

sponsored links

Okay, I am going to purchase a video card, now which one would you guys recomend.

ATI Radeon 9800 XT or the nVidia FX 5950 Ulta.

**Both are 256 MB.

Now, im turned off by the ATI becasuse of their troubling driver problematic history and Im turning off by the nVidia because they are having troubles runing DX 9 games, but supposidly have got it fixed...?

And i belive that the nVidia beat out the ATI in benchmarks, am I right?

In most benchmarks, ATI and NVidia are fairly close. But when DX9 features are added in, ATI pulls out ahead.

Unfortunately ATI seem to be having a problem with Catalyst 3.8 drivers at the moment, but other than that, their other recent drivers have been great.

If I was in your position, given the current circumstances, I would go for an ATI card.

Also, unless you plan to play games at 1600x1200 with full detail (aa and af), I would go for the 128mb 9800 pro. But if you have to have the best there is, ATI Radeon 9800 XT is the way to go.

I would have to say ATI Radeon 9800XT, I'm getting a 9600 XT myself. NVIDIA has problems with DX9 and I play DX9 enabled games so my money is towards ATI. I currenty have a Geforce 2 GTS Tawain Version.

LOL a lot of peeps on this forum are very pro-ATI so you would always get more ATI votes... Personally id look up the bench mark of each one and go for the msot powerful one if your lookin for the best.
